Dr. Saad Saad And His Accomplishments

Dr. Saad Saad spent most of his younger years in Kuwait. His father gave him a constant reminder to take his studies seriously. When he was in high school, he decided to give some construction work a try to earn some money. it was a hot summer day and the heat took its toll on him. He ended up passing out because of a heat stroke.

When he regained consciousness, he realized that he was unfit for manual labor and he set out to take his studies as seriously as possible. Dr. Saad arrived in the United States with the goal to become a US Board Certified surgeon. After obtaining this credential he was selected to be the personal pediatric doctor for the children of Saudi Arabia’s royal family. His ability to be able to speak both English and Arabic played a role in him being chosen for this respected position.

He would be in Saudi Arabia until 1989. When he returned to the United States, he began to brainstorm new ways that he could eliminate his patient’s pain and lower the time it took for a patient to recover. As a doctor, Dr. Saad also came up with two inventions that have been extremely useful in the medical field. One of his inventions is an endoscope with a device that can suck away any fog or liquid blocking the doctor’s view. Traditional endoscopes were easy to fog up because of fluids in the body and make it hard for a doctor to see while using the endoscope. Dr. Saad has used this device many times when a child has swallowed a foreign object.

Another device he invented was a catheter that can be located with electromagnetic energy. Originally a doctor would need to perform an x-ray or an MRI to locate a patient’s catheter. Now a doctor can use electromagnetic energy to locate its precise location.

Dr. Saad Saad decided to retire after over forty years as a pediatric surgeon. During his tenure, he has saved the lives of numerous children. He is thankful that his father constantly pushed him in taking his education very seriously.
